this is the most complicated disarming move i’ve ever seen, I’d get shot trying this. Lets hope all attackers shoot right-handed and carry pistol with external hammers.

I wouldn’t attempt to fire a gun I hadn’t either inspected or seen working. That would be foolish.

Instead of all that shit , run to the left and tackle the fuck out of him , grab the gun and take his head off……

  6. randomcodeing says:

instead of twisting his arm when you pivot your body, i would just elbow his head and knock him the fuck out

I used to always watch these in fast motion but I always thought that when u grab the gun ur hand wud mess up badly when he inevitably fires. Then u wud be screaming in pain and then beaten up. And now I know that u push back the hammer, I doubt that in the in real speed I would be able to successfully comfortably push back a small piece of metal.

Assuming that you have removed your vital targets from their line of fire, grabbing the slide will most likely result in you having a cut up hand, and them having a gun that is jammed. Not a great trade, but it does beat getting shot.
That said, I have to agree completely with the use of airsoft guns in training.

Tossing the gun is a pretty good option unless you are very familiar with the particular weapon in question. Different guns have different safeties and it takes time to figure a new one out. Also. this type of disarm often leads to jammed weapons (and cut up fingers) and clearing a jam takes time. It is generally a bad idea to take time out of a fight when you have the upper hand.

If u don’t toss the gun away hold it up to his head and threaten him :D

If someone pulls a gun on you, pray really quick and kiss your ass good bye, hope it helps :)

  15. superninjasnuggles says:

apparently u can because ive seen it done, the gun will fire only one time and after that the force of your grip will usually be more then enough to jam the gun redering it damn near harmless

  16. karatedad says:

When its a two handed grab on the weapon its done similar but the right hand would go between the hands holding the gun as the left hand is on the gun (think a karate x-block position). Then the right hand pulls back and downward on the wrists and the left hand applies the twisting force away from you striping the gun out of their hands.

    Hope that helps.

=/ I’m looking for an actual usefull video on how to self-defend myself from an armed oponent, but so far the 3 vids I’ve seen show the same flaw on their technique:

Grabing the gun by the slide, and assuming the atacker is 1-handed.

I wish there were any vids that show how to actually disarm a perp, without grabing the gun by the slide, and taking care of both hands simultaneously.

THAT’S the kind of information that can save lives.

this one only looks cool, but is not very usefull.

  18. DEERHUNTER478 says:

just hope they use one hand if someone attacks u wit a gun.

  19. blackquiver says:

most ppl who use sidearms use two hands…not not one..

  20. LBJohn15 says:

true i thought of that and also what if the gunman is lefthanded why would you move to the left i mean wouldnt that just benfit him ?

  21. heckald says:

good point, never thought of that.

  22. grizzleprizzleelf says:

If I was in that situation, I wouldn’t need martial arts, the gunman would be quickly disarmed by the smell of the shit that would fill my trousers the instant I felt the slightest hint of danger.

  23. mrdouglasrm5 says:

You cannot grab an auto pistol with your hand! The slide moves too fast, too much pressure, heat, and the perp will be pulling the weapon striaght back at the time. They will discharge the waepon out of pure shock. This techinque would only work on a revovler. As martial artists, we owe it to our students to practice these techniques with paintball or airsoft type guns. It might work in the dojo, but does it work at full speed with semi-live guns?

  24. Gruesitos says:

Whatever you have to use to preserve your life is important to use instead of being killed by a gun man. But the only thing you have to be able to demonstrate is courageousness for doing that kind of technique..

  25. Gattawon says:

I think that grabbing with the right hand telegraphs the defense in an impractical way. an assailant would see the defense and pull the trigger before you can get yourself off the line of fire. better to slide left and block/grab the gun with the left hand and employ the technique which looks similar to Kotegaeshi in Aikido. that way you’re always offline, and the gun is pointing either toward the sky or back in their face. this looks like a very problematic technique in a practical scenario
